Hmm... not really, Horses usaully use Brushing Boots for Cross Country, maybe Jumping & possibly Dressage. I ride a Horse called Rupert, and we usaully do Cross Country and I always put on Brushing Boots on his Legs when galloping about and tackling over fences. Jumping if fine, horses can wear them, but they are mainly for protection. I'm 95% positive with what I said, but it's best to contact whoever is running the races (If you are entering in one). Just remember they are there for protection!
Martingale:Used to keep the pony's head down. Often used for jumping to keep the pony from throwing up it's head in your face. Also used in young horses just learning to keep their head down.Brushing boots: Used to protect a horse's legs during exercise, especially when they are in fast work, or if they are showjumping or eventing. Brushing injuries are more common from the forelegs, when one hoof catches the other leg, or when the fetlock or cannon bones bash into each other. This can cause a serious injury on the horses legs, especially if the horse is wearing shoes, and causes complications further down the line. As the saying goes 'no foot no horse', so brushing boots are used to prevent these injuries from happening.Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brushing_boots
