Are commercial airliner pilots armed and if so what are they armed with?

Well it depends on what country the plane has left from.
Say if it was a country they were leaving from or traveling to with a war happening for example the pilots would probably have handguns and there would be guards on the plane.
If the country that the plane was leaving from or going to was safe for instance Austria England Canada the planes pilots would probably just have tasers handguns or nothing at all.
P . S . most planes do have some sort of gun in them but they are not used very often.

A small %. If a private pilot was intrument rated they probably have their commercial license so they wouldnt be private pilots they would be commercial pilots

Since 9-11, the FAA changed its rules so airplane pilots can be armed for security. The cabin door is also closed and has added security.

I'm not sure anyone has done a study looking at it but in theory it would make sense that their time spent in low pressure (commercial airliners are pressurized to the equivalent of 8,000 feet altitude) would lead to higher level so of hemoglobin.

it is my understanding that commercial airline pilots must retire at age 65. so, anytime before this, i suppose. i think dat commercial airline pilots retire at age 69. so,at the age of 30yrs you could start i guess.

Should pilots carry firearms?
Yes. In case of a terroristic threat on their plane, they need to be able to protect their plane and there passenger's. A typical standard police issue 9mm would be sufficient for all pilots. All pilots would need to have small firearms training so the pilot knows ow the firearm works.Added: It is NOT a mtter of 'should' they, this question is not open to a debate. It is established law that commercial airline pilots CAN, when properly trained, carry firearms in the cockpit.
