Lots of uses are made of sea water on ships. However, when sea water is 'sucked' onto the ship it is put through a type of fresh water generator and then distributed to tanks. The pools are filled from these tanks via a heating and treatment plant. This plant will heat the water with steam to a designated temperature and doses the water to keep the chlorine and pH within limits
