No they are not. Early on in Nigeria's history a visionary groupof lawyers led by Adetokunbo Ademola while writing the Laws of the Federal republic of Nigeria, noticed the clause on thdivorce which enttiles the wife to half of the fortune of the family. Being Nigerian, they saw this as being uniqely against our customs/culture etc and they said " Ah this one no go work oh!!!" Hence, in Nigeria, a man can divorce his wife and not pay alimony or give her any support whateoever. However, in most cases there is a token amount agreed between the two parties.
Whereas in the American situation, the richer of the two parties will have to give quite heavily to the other party in order to terminate the marriage. That's rough.

Nigeria is a diverse nation which includes people of several different religions. There are certainly some Christians in Nigeria, and they have approximately the same belief in Santa Claus that American Christians have - although Nigeria is a warm country, in southern Africa, and there are fewer chimneys for Santa Claus to descend.
