Yes. Many members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (commonly called the "Mormon" church) are gay. The Church welcomes gay men and women, and openly gay members are welcome to have near full participation in all aspects of church life (They can be ordained, preach, and participate or officiate in all sacred ordinances, but they cannot be Bishops or youth leaders). The church teaches that it is not a sin to have homosexual thoughts, feelings, inclinations, or temptations; however, it is sinful to give in to the temptation and have a sexual relationship with a member of the same sex. Those Mormons who do participate in sexual relationships or even a marriage with those of the same gender are still welcome to attend services and participate in activities like a regular member off the congregation, but may not preach or hold a position within the church until they repent and confess their sin to a Bishop. Gay baptismal candidates are expected to remain celibate for a certain period of time before being considered.

The Church itself will not perform or support gay marriages, but it does support and advocate equality protections in housing, employment, hospital visitation, etc and has partnered with Utah's LGBT Pride center in it's efforts to support the homeless LGBT community. Members are free to support gay marriage if they choose to do so, and feelings seem pretty evenly mixed.

The LDS Church (Mormons) official position is that homosexuality is a sin and inconsistent with God's plan. However, many Mormon people accept their gay family and friends in spite of this position.

Why were the people persecuting the mormens?

People are naturally hostile against those who appear 'different' from themselves. Mormons are persecuted by people who believe that they are too different to be accepted into society. Historically, the worst persecution was in the 1830's and 1840's, when Mormons were forced from their homes four times - in New York, Ohio, Missouri, and Illinois. Often this was because the local residents were afraid that Mormons would become the majority and sway local politics. Also many people did not like that Mormonism was not a traditional Christian religion. Today, persecution against Mormons is mostly done by those who misunderstand the teachings of the church or by those who disagree with the conservative standards of Mormons.

Why are gay people not accepted in the world?

This is untrue. Gay people are accepted in many places all over the world. Same-sex marriage and civil unions are legal in more than 40 countries and 17 US States (as of January 2014). Even in countries without same sex marriage and civil unions, gay people enjoy more freedom than they have ever had (such as Nepal, the Philippines, Japan, and Tawain).

Why aren't gay people accepted?

Because people are afraid of what they don't understand. It was commonly accepted that because we're gay there must be something wrong with us. That and because religion has fought so hard to control the world they made homosexuality come across as a bad thing when it's as natural as having different colour hair.
