Some vitamins are water soluable and therefore create no problem when taken in high levels, other vitamins are fat soluable and do not flush out of your system as you urinate as with water soluable vitamins and therefore can cause liver damage as they are stored there.
I certainly do not want to scare you from taking vitamins and herbs but take your time and study the side effects of each and work from there. A health food store should be helpful when looking for these products as they are trained in answering your needs.
