Wow, not many questions will polarize those answering as much as this 25+ year old question. Both companies make good hardware. But the real difference is in operating systems...or "Is a computer running Windows better than a computer running the MAC operating system?"
And..the answer depends. What do you want to do with your computer? If you have special needs, find a software package well suited to them, and then see which operating system the software package works on.
I've been involved with desktop computers and support since 1983, and UNIX systems almost as long...and in countless times I've seen people buy HARDWARE and then look for software to do what they want...when they would have been better served to find SOFTWARE that meets their needs and then see what hardware was needed to run it.
The computer user community is deeply divided on the subject of PC versus MAC, and zealots will argue vehemently on both sides of the question.
A few things to consider:
PRO-PC: You can generally find PCs cheaper than MACs. You will find many more PC users out there who may be able to help you than you would MAC computers.
PRO-MAC: Those I know who have spent much time on both seem to generally like the MACs better. Few viruses target MACs. MACs used to be much less subject to "crashes" or "lockups" requiring a reboot, (but newer WINDOWS operating systems are much more stable than the older WINDOWS software of just 4 or 5 years ago.)
If it makes any difference to you, or means anything, the MAC operating system is now built on top of a UNIX system. (If that doesn't mean anything to you, not a big deal.)

HP looks much better
A Mac is one of a range of computers made by Apple. HP is a software/electronics company. They are separate companies and are not the same.
Yes, HP laptop computers are significantly cheaper than Mac laptop computers. You would get more of a bang for your buck choosing HP over Apple unless you need something the laptop for something very specific such as some design and graphics programs.
Dell, Toshiba, HP, Sony, Apple (Mac computers)
Well, it isn't a fact that HP are better computers. It's just a matter of opinion for everybody. I think that the best brand of computers are the Alienware products.
Well both are not good But Apple Mac is better
In most cases Mac's are more reliable and faster than PC's and will last longer, as well as easier to use. HP computers, however, are much more inexpensive and affordable. Both companies offer great technical support and high quality products, as well as remarkable cosmetic designs for their products. The difficult thing with HPs is that when they get faulty in a year or two, you have to pay for the fix even though you did nothing wrong with it.
Not necessarily, I do prefer HP but there are many asus that are better than some HP and vice-versa check all the specs and warranties and pick the one that you think will last and work well not the one that has a better brand all computers are different.
Apple's Mac OS X can legally only be installed on computers made by Apple.
I personally think that HP and toshiba are really good quality computers, I have an HP and it wors great, it really depends on what you want to do with the computer
There is a wide range of computers available for children under the age of 15. Some of the better one's include the HP TouchSmart, HP Mini 210 and the Toshiba L635.
Apples are better because they have more graphic design capabilities than Windows Products. Also, Apple has the MOST advanced operating system available to the public, Mac OS 10.5 Leopard!
