The Yamaha Virago was in production from 1981 till 2007. Considering the manufacture dates, some models of the Virago are listed as classic. These may be found in classic motor events such as shows and sales. Enthusiasts have created multiple webpages for viewing. To find a Virago for purchase, classifieds or used motorcycle shops would be a start.
Should be located Behind the 3 bolt cover on the right front side of the motor

The 1996 Yamaha 1100 has a low oil warning light, in the instrument panel. The motor oil dipstick has a low oil mark.
yes the only difference is the ignitions
There should be a sight glass on the left lower side of the motor. The oil should be visable in the glass.
Wiring harness is differant but other wise its all the same
3RB-012812 is not a frame number for a 250 Yamaha dirt bike; it's a motor number. To find out the model year and frame, you need the frame number.
On a 1997 Yamaha Warrior with the original frame it is located on the frame bar underneath the motor, and a few inches in front of it. If it has a replacement frame, it may not have a vin, because on a replacement frame they are supposed to be cut out of the original frame and welded to the frame bar underneath the rear fender on the passenger side of the quad.
Yes, the warrior motor should fit the raptor, there is no difference, but if you plan on selling the raptor make sure it is the newer motor with that stock gray look, not the older black motors.
VIN stands for vehicle identification number and is used to identify the frame, not the engine. The VIN is usually located on the steering neck where the fork goes through the frame or the lower right side of the frame. The VIN is not marked on the motor.
