Yes - The shock is an intigrated part of the strut.
Actually your Camry has struts but many people refer to them as shocks. Struts are used instead of shocks because they are more effiecient and last longer.
They are part of the suspension.
My 1999 qx4 does the same thing. I think it may be the shocks/struts that needs replacing. Do you bounce alot when going over bumps? My 1999 qx4 does the same thing. I think it may be the shocks/struts that needs replacing. Do you bounce alot when going over bumps?
Please see my other answers, as they are pretty much the same for u as they are for them. Matt
If it uses rear struts, replace them. If it's rear shocks, replace them. Basically it's the same thing. Replace the strut inserts if you can get them. It's a lot less money than replacing the entire strut.
I was quoted just over $700 to replace struts & shocks in the front and rear of my '99 Dodge Caravan. Earlier I was quoted just under $700 to replace the same in my '91 Ford Escort.
They have air shocks in the back that are used for ride height control. This is not the same as an "air spring" system. They have regular rear springs and the air bladders in the shock are only pumped up when there is significant load in the rear, to prevent the rear end from sagging. This is a very simple and reliable system. Monroe makes great factory replacement rear air shocks and they are cheap too.
I have a 92 Toyota Camry (same model as yours) and they have struts on all four.
Shocks and struts are used in vehicles to make uneven or bumpy roads seem less bumpy while at the same time protecting your vehicle from damage from the unforseen elements of the road.
Check the shocks and the suspension components. You might have a bad bushing on the sway bar, shock or elsewhere. The 1997 Chevy Cavalier has struts instead of shocks in the rear-end, so you would need to replace those. Also while replacing the struts you might want to consider alingment for both the rear and front because if the car has been making this sound for a long period of time it will be out of aline. My cavalier had the same problem, but both struts were bad.
Yes, most definitely. You must always replace struts and shocks in pairs. Replace one front shock or strut then you must replace both. Same for the rear.
I believe they should be struts, not shocks. The only difference is where the bracket is for the brake line, the strut itself is the same.
