If a loved one has to be put in a nursing home, make sure you visit them often, I have seen instanses where they have lain in their escrement for days. Most of the time it is not the fault of the cna's who care for them. Almost all nursing homes are under staffed. Most are privately owned and the only thing that matters to them is the money. I kept my father at home until 2 days before his death. My mom is now 81 and if something happens to her I will keep her with me where I know she will not be abused and neglected.
On the other hand, my best had to put here father in a nursing home because he became violent and terrified her children. I can understand that, but to put the people who cared for and loved you deserve better than most nursing homes.

∙ 10y agoThis depends entirely on your definition of 'good' (it could be dependent on happiness of elderly residents, number of staff, access to activities and health care etc.) and at any rate, is a completely subjective matter. Some care homes receive bad ratings and reviews and good ratings and reviews all at the same time from different people with different experiences. There are far too many care homes in the world to assess them all to calculate the 'best' or those that are 'good' and, without being limited to a location within a country, is not feasible to answer.
