If someone has no money for a tooth extraction and would like to go to a dental school to have a student extract it, can this be done?

Dental schools always need people to practice their craft. Most dental schools have low cost or sliding scale fees for those who can not afford to pay standard dentists. By no means are the services free however, but probably very close to it.

Thinking about training to be a dental hygienist?

If you're interested in people, health, and have good hand-eye coordination, you might consider a career as a dental hygienist. You need to have a high school diploma before applying to dental hygienist programs, but there's a steady need for dental hygienists and it's a great career for those with the right skill set.Dental hygienists assist dentists in caring for patients' dental health. The specific tasks that hygienists may perform vary from state to state. But typically hygienists assist with patient evaluation and diagnostics, record and chart keeping, perform checks for oral cancer and gum disease, remove plaque and calculus from patient's teeth, provide fluoride treatments, expose, create molds and take impressions of patients' teeth, process and interpret dental x-rays and images, assist in administering anesthetic or nitrous oxide, mix ceramic and amalgams for fillings, place temporary fillings in patients' teeth, and educate patients regarding dental health and hygiene and nutrition. In order to be a dental hygienist, you must first earn a degree in dental hygiene from an accredited college or university, then pass a written national board examination administered by the American Dental Association's Joint Commission on National Dental Examination, and a clinical exam in order to earn a license to practice. At that point, a dental hygienist is listed as either RDH (Registered Dental Hygienist or LDH, Licensed Dental Hygienist, depending on the state that issues the license. Before applying to an accredited dental hygienist program at a college, you must have a high school diploma. You will also need to take one or more standardized college entrance exams. Different schools will require the SAT or the ACT. Most schools offer a two-year Associate's degree in Dental Hygiene, but there are schools that offer a four-year Bachelors degree, and even an M.S. graduate degree in dental hygiene. The ADHA offers a list of schools with accredited dental hygienist programs.

How do you choose a good dental assistant school?

Dental assistant schools influence your competence and the quality of education you will receive, which is why it is important to select a good school. It is not advisable to make a random choice of dental assistant schools to study in. Here are some factors you should take consider when choosing a dental assistant school which will give you adequate practise and exposure for real life. First and foremost, only choose dental assistant schools accredited by government and professional dental associations, as these are an indication of competence and credibility. Some professional dental associations even have ratings or rankings on the performance of these schools. These ratings and rankings can be a helpful guide in evaluating the dental assistant schools in your area. Choosing accredited institutions guarantees that the school's curriculum, methods of instruction, facilities and faculty have already been evaluated by an impartial and objective third party. When dental assistant schools are affiliated with a professional dental association, the chances of getting employed right after graduation and getting a license are much higher. Next, you should consider the rankings and performance of the dental assistant schools and of its graduates in licensing examinations. It is always advisable to choose a school whose students consistently perform well in licensing exams. Ideally, you should choose dental assistant schools that have been consistently included in the top 10 best-performing dental assistant schools list. You must also consider the facilities in various dental assistant schools. Even if a school may have the best faculty, the quality of education will still be mediocre without state-of-the-art facilities and equipment. You must always bear in mind that dental practice is not limited to theory and academics, but is largely devoted to hands-on training. Most principles and guidelines in dental practice are best learned and understood through actual application. For instance, you need to know how to actually use dental equipment and tools. Reading the steps through a manual will never be enough. For these reasons the facilities of any dental assistant school are of crucial importance. You also need to be experienced at handling actual patient inquiries and complaints. A clinical internship is also an integral phase in the curriculum of dental assistant schools. Finally, you need to compare the overall costs. Tuition fees are just part of the total amount you need to allocate for your enrollment in dental assistant schools. You should also look at miscellaneous fees. Some dental assistant schools charge low tuition fees but they compensate with higher miscellaneous charges for items like text books.

How can you find a school that does cheap dental work?

All Dental Schools take patients and give very cheap dental care. It is a necessity for the school. the students in the school need "dummies" to practice on. NOt to say that you are a dummy for going although you do sign a waver and you are fully aware that the treatment you will be receiving is not from a licensed dentist and is completely a learning experience for a dental student. which most the time nothing ever goes wrong so you help a student achieve and succeed and you save on average 60-80% on dental care so its a win-win situation. Just search for the nearest dental School one with a DDS program (Doctor of Dental Surgery) and they will take pateints and give cheaper dental care.
