The transmissions on thos 2 applications are the same more than likely. What may be different is the computers. The computer for the 5.2 is set up differant than the 5.9. it may be best to get the computer and have it reprogramed when you do the swap.

According to the owners guide, a 2010 Ford Explorer Uses: Automatic Transmission 9.0qt of "MERCON LV ATF" So ATF fluid Manual Transmission: 2.4qt of SAE 75W-90 Gear Oil ======================================================== According to the 2010 Ford Explorer Owner Guide that I was looking at : For the 5R55S automatic transmission ( MERCON - V automatic transmission fluid ) For the 6R80 automatic transmission ( MERCON LV automatic transmission fluid as mentioned above ) The Owner Guide doesn't mention a manual transmission
chances are the clutches are worn out and need to be replaced, so your looking at a transmission overhaul.
I was looking at the 1997 Ford Expedition Owner Guide and it shows Motorcraft MERCON automatic transmission fluid for the two models of automatic transmission ( E4OD with the 5.4 liter ) I would also check to see if the type of fluid is engraved into the automatic transmission fluid dipstick
If your looking for the automatic transmission dipstick, it doesn't have one.

On a 1995 Ford Explorer : Looking into the engine compartment from the DRIVERS SIDE ( a flashlight would be helpfull ) the starter is LOW DOWN at the rear of the engine where the automatic transmission is bolted to the rear of the engine
Through the automatic transmission fluid dipstick tube , at the back of your engine , slightly to the left ( looking from the front of the Explorer ) by the firewall
The AUTOMATIC transmission ( transaxle ) dipstick is on the transaxle just to the left of the battery when looking from the front of the vehicle , the manual transaxle does not have a dipstick

None of them show a 5 speed automatic transmission , but starting with the 2009 model year ( depending on how it was equipped ) it does show a ( 6R80 automatic transmission / 6 speed / transmission code " 6 " ) along with the ( 4R75E / 4 speed / trans code " Q " )
