Being a homosexual doesn't cause any disease. STDs are acquired from promiscuous sex, or from a partner who has the disease. Gay men have been shown to be more susceptible to AIDS when they have unprotected anal sex. In areas such as Africa, however, AIDS has become much more prevalent among heterosexuals (who make up a larger percentage of the population).
Gay or straight, diseases are more likely where someone has multiple partners, especially those with unknown sexual histories. In the past, anonymous gay sexual behavior was much more common due to the stigmatization of homosexuality. There are still venues with large numbers of gay men engaged in promiscuous sex, but the majority are related to the use of illicit drugs.
There are no diseases that are caused by gay activity (or any activity). Disease can only be caused by viruses, bacteria, and genetics.
Because DSM is for diagnosing mental diseases and homosexuality is not a mental disease.
