The only 2 designs issued in 1921 were Morgan (named for its designer), struck from January through November and the new Peace dollars struck in December only.

Several commemorative half-dollars were dated 1921 but no commemorative dollars.

Why is the mint mark 'D' on the 1921 Morgan Dollar smaller than the 'D' mint marking on the other Morgan Silver Dollars from the Denver mint?

1921 is the only year Morgan dollars were struck at the Denver Mint. No other dates could have a "D" mintmark. All 1921-D Morgan's have a tiny or "micro" mintmark.

How do you know if you have a Morgan silver dollar?

A Morgan silver dollar is a large dollar coin, on the front there should be a depiction of Lady Liberty's face wearing a small crown saying "LIBERTY" on it the reverse features an eagle with olive branches and arrows and a wreath at the bottom. They were dated 1878 to 1904 and also made in 1921. The only other coin that could be easily confused with a Morgan dollar is a Peace Dollar of which some were also minted in 1921, they have the same size, but the liberty on a Peace dollar looks like there are rays coming out of her head and the reverse of a Peace dollar has an eagle perched on a rock engraved PEACE.

How much is a 1921 silver dollar with the word E.PLURIBUS . UNUM PRINTED ON IT?

Unfortunately two different types of silver dollars with the same date were made in 1921 . One is a Morgan dollar and the other a Peace dollar. But you included the motto"E-PLURIBUS-UNUM" in the question posted and this appears on the obverse (front) of the Morgan dollar coins. Circulated coins run from $25.00-$40.00 depending on condition and any mintmark.

What is the difference between a Morgan Carson City Silver dollar and a Carson City Silver Dollar?

One group is a subset of the other. "Morgan dollar" refers to the design by George T. Morgan that was issued from 1878 to 1904 and again in 1921. Carson City refers to one of the mints where dollars were struck. The Carson City mint operated from about 1870 to 1893, and it struck Seated Liberty design dollars, Trade dollars, and Morgan design dollars. The Morgan design was also minted at Philadelphia, San Francisco, New Orleans, and Denver. So ... a Morgan Carson City dollar is one that was struck between 1878 and 1893 at the Carson City Mint. But not all Morgan dollars were struck at Carson City, and not all dollars struck at Carson City are Morgans. (see Venn diagrams in high school math!)

How do you know if it is a Morgan?

A Morgan dollar would be dated 1878-1904 or dated 1921. If you've got a silver dollar dated 1878-1904 that does not say "Trade Dollar" on the reverse, you for sure have a Morgan dollar. In practice though trade dollars are infrequently found that date from the era of the Morgan Dollar. The only other possible overlap you have is 1921. The 1921 Morgan dollar is quite common and generally sells for bullion value even in the lowest grade. On the other hand the 1921 Peace Dollar is scarce and commands a large premium over melt value, even in lower grades. The easiest way to tell if you've got a 1921 Morgan vs. a 1921 Peace dollar is to look at the reverse of the coin. If the eagle has its wings outstretched, you've got a Morgan dollar. If the eagle is perched on a rock, you've got a Peace Dollar.

What is a Morgan dollar?

A Morgan dollar is a US silver dollar minted from 1878 to 1904 and again in 1921. The name comes from George T. Morgan, the coin's designer. The front has a portrait of Miss Liberty that resembles the face Gustave Eiffel later used for the Statue of Liberty. The reverse has a spread-winged eagle holding an olive branch in one claw to symbolize peace and arrows in the other to represent strength. Morgan's design is both highly detailed and sharply executed, making the Morgan dollar among the most beautiful and popular of American coins. The mint mark position on all Morgan dollars is on the reverse side, above the letters DO in DOLLAR. Possible mint marks are:None (also "blank" or "plain") - PhiladelphiaS - San FranciscoO - New OrleansCC - Carson CityD - Denver (1921 only)Common dates such as 1921 are available to collectors at reasonable prices, perhaps $25 to $40 depending on the current price of silver. There are also some rare date and mint mark combinations that can sell for thousands of dollars.FAQ's about Morgan dollarsQ: What is the "M" mint mark on the front?A: That's actually George Morgan's initial.
