I have an identical twin. For me it is no more likely that I will have twins than anyone else because identical twins are just flukes. If you are a non- identical twin and that is because your mother had two eggs, then you may have this too, and it is more likely you will have twins.

It depends on what has caused the twins in your family. Having identical twins is a random event, and so there is no genetic or inheritable cause for that. So if there are identical twins in your family, then you are no more likely than anyone else to have twins. If, however, you have non-identical twins in your family, then this could be due to hyperovulation, which can be inherited. This is when a woman is more likely to release multiple eggs during her ovulation cycle, and so a man inheriting this gene will not affect his own chance of having twins. It could effect a woman's chances, but it's still not a sure thing.

No. Two placentas indicates dizygotic twins which always has 2 amnions and 2 chorions. This is a common misconception. My own twins are identical, yet they had separate sacs and separate placentas that implanted on polar opposite sides of the uterus. DNA tested have proven their zygosity. Whether identical twins will have their own placentas is dependent upon when the egg split. In my case, the egg probably splip immediately after conception and conception likely took place in the fallopian tube.
