As a Romania family member can you travel to other E U state with Romania resident?

Yes, you can. You must have your ID card, or passport, each one of them is ok. If you want to work there, remember to bring a legalized copy of you work permit up to that date.

Actually that depends on which Eu country you are in. In each, EU country, they can decide if you need a work permit or not. For example, the Poles didn't need work permission in Great Britain and in Ireland when they were inducted into the Eu but in France, Germany, Italy and I think a few others, work permission was necessary. If your family member is just a Romanian resident and not a citizen of the EU (ie Romania or an EU country), they require a visa if they don't have an agreement with the country. For example, I'm American and my husband is French. I am a resident of the EU but I am not a citizen. If I choose to live in another EU country, I still have to get a visa or papers to stay in other EU countries because I am not a member of the European community. However, it is easier to travel and move if you are with another member of the EU. You can get a residential status in that country but there are even conditions on that.

This answer I believe is not correct, the question can a family member of a Romanian travel to other EU states with that a residence permit for family members without a visa.

And the answer is, some EU countries allows visa-free while some EU countries don't and this are the list of other EU countries you will still need a visa for even witha residence card as a family member issued by Romania (UK, IRELAND, SWEDEN, DENMARK, GERMANY, HOLLAND, AUSTRIA, FRANCE, ITALY). Other EU countries allow you to travel visa-free with or without your EU spouse.

Mind you, except UK and Ireland....you can travel to all EU member states visa-free when travelling with your EU spouse.

You didn't properly read the question or understand it. Number one, Romania is part of the EU. You don't need a visa to go to any other EU countries. However, they are partial members. You need to have papers to work until they become full members unless the country they are going to has a waiver for that. Secondly, I know for a fact that if you are from a non EU country and you travel with your spouse to go to another EU country that requires a visa, then you aren't getting there without a visa. My husband needed to move to Poland for his work and I asked if I could go with him since it was part of the EU and live there. Yes, I could but I had to go get the same papers I had to get a stay visa there like I had here. Since the EU on the continent has no borders, I can travel to any of the countries by car or by train with no problems. When I entered from the UK to France, it still required my passport even though I traveled with my daughter who is an EU citizen. I used her national identity card but I had to show my passport and my resident alien card. If you are talking about traveling, that is one thing. But if you are going to a country that requires your country to have a visa, you do need a visa regardless if your partner is a EU member or not. I asked the Prefecture and they told me that the spouse is the citizen you are not. If you home country requires a visa to one of the EU countries, then you have to get that visa for travel.

I reread the answer from the previous poster. This person is talking about living in another country in the EU if you are Romanian. Romania is part of the EU. You do not need a visa to travel to any of the EU countries. You do need a work permit if you plan to work there. The government of the country you are going to will issue the work permit. In France, it is called Permission de travail. However, some industries are exempt from that even. For example, in France, Romanians wanting to work in a hotel or restaurant would not need to have permission to work due to the need. I asked my Romanian friend and this is what she has been doing here. So, good luck on your travel.

First, I don't know if your a visa-free national to EU or not and that's why its much easy for you to move around.

Second, I told you...as a family member of an EU citizen, you can travel together with your EU spouse or family citizen within the EU member states without visa except UK and Ireland.

Third, The fact you got your residence permit from France or so...then this is another case. Any residence permit from a Schengen state is valid as visa-free to all schengen state either travelling alone or accompanying your EU spouse.

Lastly...You need to understand from what I have wrote that First, Romania is not part of Schengen so their residence permit is not a visa-free to other EU state. ONLY Romanian family members are allowed to travel visa-free to EU member states when they accompany their EU spouse.

Let me just give you a prove of it, try to contact the German embassy in Romania by email and tell them your a family member of a Romanian and you want to travel alone to Germany and ask them if you need a visa or not.

And at the same time, contact the German embassy in France.. tell them you are a family member of a French and you want to travel alone to Germany and ask if you need a visa or not.

Maybe then you will understand what am trying to say.

In reply of my emails NETHERLAND, GERMANY, ITALY, Switzerland, FRANCE, FINLAND, AUSTRIA & NORWAY Embassies said that I need visa if I want to travel alone without my wife and SPAIN, Portugal, BELGIUM and Czech Republic embassies said I do not need visa if I travel alone without wife to their countries.

I am surprised that why for SPAIN, PORTUGAL, BELGIUM and CZECH REPUBLIC I do not need visa while these countries also included in SCHENGEN (Passport Free Travel Countries) , on other hand I need visa for these Schengen Countries NETHERLAND, GERMANY, ITALY, SWITZERLAND, FRANCE, FINLAND, AUSTRIA & NORWAY if I travel alone without my wife.

Please share your knowledge/ experience/ information about this Issue.
