If you are thinking about it, do it. If only as a mark of respect to her and them. Obviously it has different emphasis in different cultures but untimately parents are just normal people with normal fears and forbodings and some probably need the verbal assurance that their precious gift is in safe hands. The more assured they are now, the less they will intrude later.
