At what age does a male basset hound become an adult basset?
It is recommended that Bassets be treated as puppies and stay on puppie food etc... until they are 18 months old according to my vet.
A male Basset Hound can breed at about 7-8 months but I would advise against this as you do not yet know if the stud has any problems that you do not want passed on to future generations. Yes, this is possible, but the Bulldog would likely need human assistance as they have lost most of their capability to mate independently. Matings between two Bulldogs need humans on hand because the Bulldog breed can no longer mate without assistance, nor give birth without a caesarian. These problems may be present in a mating with a Basset Hound.
When the female dog begins her cycle, the male dog will undoubtedly mount her. Be on the look out for blood and cervical fluid (goo) passing from the uterus of the female dog. She will appear to be having a mentrual cycle. At that point, the male dog (as long as he is penned with her) will mount her. Until then, they should be really great friends.
if it is a male chihuahua with a female blood hound ,that would be possible BUT not recommendable, according to breeders it would be unethical in case of a female chihuahua with a male blood hound NO the chihuahua would likely die in pregnancy or birth so overall the answer should be NO, the bloodhound is too big
