Small dogs I:e Border Terriers, Jack Russell Terriers, Papilons, Chiwauwau, Staffies are safe to have puppies at 2 years but some small dogs like these can get away with as little as 9 months. With terriers I:e Jack Russell, Border Terrier, Staffie Bulls, there healthy to have puppies AROUND the age of 2, a small bit before the age of 2 but with dogs with flat mussles I:e Pugs, Boston Terriers, Shar Pei, can somtimes struggle at births by quickly becoming out of breath, just make sure your always their to help them at it will be fine, with thses dogs, its good to defenantly wait till the age of 2 years or after. Other small more speacialy bred dogs such as the Chiwauwau and Papilon somtimes need a bit of help during births as they are very easily Domesticated dogs and the more domsticated a dog the more difficult the birth may be, these dogs can whelp the same age as terriers, AROUND the age of 2 I:e at small bit before 2. Bigger dogs need to wait till the age of 3, 2 1/2(minimum) it is healthy for any breed and size of dog to wait till the 2nd season/heat before breeding(having pups on the first heat can/will kill mother and pups) Please don't class your dog as a 'small' breed if it is any bigger then a Springer Spaniel, Staffie, (small)border collie or (small)Pittbull. If your dog is small but 'big-bonned' I:e Shar Pei, Staff, Pittbull Terrier, Bulldog, then it is good to wait until about 2 and a bit (about 2-3 months after turning 2)
You should wait until the dog is at least 2 years old. http://www.k9web.com/dog-faqs/breeding.html -Addendum- Though most dogs are recommended to wait 2 years from birth, females are fertile at 6 months. Breeding too young can cause defects and other problems.
As soon as they have their first season, which in greyhounds is about age 2 I'm not sure about others though.
A female dog can become pregnant as soon as they come into heat the first time. This varies from 6 months in some dogs up to 18 months in others.
A female dog can become pregnant as early as her first heat, which, on average, occurs at around 7 or 8 months of age. It is NOT healthy for the female to become pregnant this early though. The very earliest a dog should become pregnant is on her second heat. Never on her first heat, because the eggs that are ovulated are immature. But it is better for the female dog's development if she doesn't become pregnant before the age of 2, at which time she is a fully mature adult. If a dog becomes pregnant before this time, say, at 1 year and 2 months old, it is the same as say, a human girl becoming pregnant at 13 years old. The body still needs all of its nutrients to develop into adulthood, and pregnancy is a strain on the body of any female. Therefore, a female dog should be in peak condition before becoming pregnant.
my dog got prego to our surprise when she was 8 months old and had 5 perfect puppies. they don't have to be very old at all!
A dog must be sexually mature, which is about 6 months. It may not be wise for young dogs to get pregnant so soon. Pregnancy will slow the 6-month old dog's growth.
Dogs can reproduce as young as 5 months old but it's not recommended to breed them until they are at least a year old for safety
six months old
She needs to be at least 1 year old.
at one year and a half
Oldest Cat to Give Birth: In 1987 a domestic cat, named Kitty, give birth to two kittens at the age of 30 years. **Courtsy of: ** Dorling Kindersley, 1995
You can't give birth in the first episode (Amethyst Mountains) but in the second episode (Slough Creek) you have to give birth to pups and look after them eg. feed them, protect them and keep them healthy till they are old enough to hunt with you.
Directly after giving birth she will be very tired, so give her time. Also, she may get up in a while and after they are fed, but she will always come back and repeat this until they are old enough.
dogs are like humans in this perspective, the older a dog gets the less likely there will be puppies or there will be more problems with them. the ideal age for a dog to have puppies would be around 2-4 years.
yes with all mamals until they are fourteen weeks old everyone is female so we all have nipples or teets. Then at fourteen weeks if a boy their hormones activate [testosterone] but if female they carry on.
A female can give birth when she is three for four years old.
All dogs are mammals and give live birth to a litter of puppies.
A female has to be around the age of 1 to be fully developed to give birth.
Depending on how fast the female grows, it could could get pregnant as young as 8 - 10 weeks old.
Female tigers (tigresses), including the Bengal tigresses, usually have their first litter at three years old.
Female koalas reach reproductive age at around two years old.
well think of it like a human dogs cant have babies at an old age
If the female lasts long enough, she could give birth to a sugar glider.
If you are referring to ''when she comes in heat'', it is at six months. Females can be scented by the male dog a pretty good distance. She cannot give birth until this age. But make sure she has all her shots, etc. And God bless!!
Ugly
