There may be a fault in the alternator too.

The load value should be checked. When you do this, do a battery check too. By the way, about batteries and how you can revive a dead battery, I found some interesting things in a guide here:

It's not very expensive but it can help you with any kind of dead battery

Is alternator used once car starts?

The battery "starts" the car...after that the alternator keeps the battery charged. They work together in other words.

Will a bad alternator keep a 1999 S10 pickup truck from starting?

The answer is no . The battery starts you vehicle , the alternator charges the battery so if your alternator is bad your battery is not receiving a charge which will cause a "no start" condition.

4-cylinder 99 tercel starts the stalls starts again and stalls then the battery is dead?

It sounds like your alternator is no longer recharging your battery. You probably need a new alternator.

Your car wont start just makes a clicking sound?

That could be the alternator or the battery. Try jump starting your car with another car's battery. If it still does not start, it is probably the alternator. If it starts, your battery is dead.

Why some time the terminal voltage of a battery increases more than its rating?

When the alternator starts charging the battery voltage will increase about two volts to charge the battery.

Car battery jump starts but won't hold charge?

You either have corroded battery terminals (where cables hook on battery)or a bad alternator ...Autozone willtest for free

What causes a 2003 Sunfire engine to keep dying when the battery is not dead?

Have you cheked your alternator? The battery only starts the car and runs electrical components such as your radio and A/C and lights. The alternator is the generator that keeps the engine running once it has been started. Mine was the fuel pump went out

Can my car start with a recharged battery if my alternator is bad?

Yes, the battery starts the engine, and as long as the battery is fully charged the engine will start. The battery will loose it's charge if the alternator is defective and not replenishing the charge of the battery but the alternator has nothing to do with starting the engine.

Is it the alternator if the car starts then after 10 hours the battery goes dead and does not start but after running for a few minutes starts again?

Most likely it will not be the alternator. It sounds as though the alternator is working very well. It will be a faulty battery or a battery drain due to something left on or shorted out. Usually a boot light or glovebox light or recently fitted stereo.

What could cause engine to try shutting down while driving and battery going dead overnight if battery and alternator have been replaced?

Sounds like the engine is using the battery as the source of power instead of using the alternator. The main job of the battery is to give power to the starter that "starts" the engine. Once the engine is started the alternator kicks in to maintain power throughout the vehicle, as well as keeping the battery strong. But if the alternator isn't working, the engine will get it's power from the battery. And without the alternator keeping the battery strong, the battery will die. Note: between the alternator and the battery, there is a voltage regulator, this make sure that the battery only gets the power it needs. Oh, one more note, here's a way to tell if the alternator is working properly. (Start the engine, while it is running remove one of the battery cable for just a few seconds.)if the engine stops, then you have an alternator problem still. Check your wires. Or replace the unit. for more answers. email tjjjlong@aol.com A constant 12 volt drain on the electrical system, even when the car is off

The battery light comes on when the car starts 1990 Toyota Celica If the battery is left connected it will be discharged in a few days What can be the problem?

If the battery light is on, it usually means that the alternator has a problem. Have the alternator checked at a local auto parts retailer. If one or more of the diodes are bad, your battery charge will be affected.

What does it mean when battery light sporadically comes on in a 2009 jeep wrangler?

Usually that means either, The battery has a dead cell and needs changing, The battery is being over taxed and is experiencing large voltage drops, or the alternator is malfunctioning. The alternator could be charging the battery and then not charging for a long period of time. This will cause the battery to get low pinging the warning light then later shutting off when the alternator starts charging again. There are many auto part stores you can take it to, for a free test of the battery and alternator.
