alternator is going out Or the belt is slipping
CHANGE YOUR VOLTAGE REGULATOR DRIVE SAFE It might also be a good idea to go get your alternator checked. Autozone/Advance Auto do it for free.
Get the alternator checked before your battery goes dead.
The battery light coming on in your Town and Country minivan means that the alternator needs to be replaced. The alternator charges the battery and if it goes bad it will not charge the battery.
Take off the negative battery cable and hook a test light in between the cable and the battery post. If you have a drain, the light will be on. Start pulling fuses until the light goes off and when it does go off, that is the thing that is draining the battery. If no fuses affect it, take the altermator wires off. If the light goes off then, the alt is bad,.
Battery light usually means alternator not charging. Most common solutions would be be a bad alternator, bad connection, or loose alt belt.
Turn on any light in the car, if the light gets very dim or goes out you have a bad (or discharged) battery. Its remotely possible that the terminal connections on the battery are corroded or dirty.
"The only time the charge battery light goes off is when you press the gas" is the classic symptom of a loose or very well worn belt.
Belt slipping Did coolant get on belt during replacement?
I had the same problem with my 2006 BRV, the light came on whenever I went on the highway and accelerated. I went to the dealer and they said it was a software issue, they reprogrammed something and I haven't seen the red light since. If the battery light comes on occasionally during acceleration or uphill driving, go to any GM dealership and ask them to look up a TSB on a Rendezvous battery light on issue. It takes one hour labor to reprogram the computer. If the light is on all the time, it's the alternator. Its prolly a Charging system issue. Does the battery ever go dead? my best advice is if you have an autozone around they can test the charging system while its in the car. just hopes its not the alternator that requires tilting the engine forward and isn't an easy task.
either the battery is bad or there is an electrical draw in the car. a simple test to check for a short or draw, with a hot battery in the car remove either battery cable but only one place a test light one end on the battery and the other on the removed cable if the test light glows for a second or 2 this is normal , if it glows steady there is a draw in the car , remove the fuses one at a time until the test light goes out , once the light goes out this is the circuit where the problem is located . if the light never goes out then it is most likely bad diodes in the alternator. happy hunting.
It goes to whatever is connected to the battery. For example, if you connect a light bulb to the battery, the energy goes into the light bulb.If the battery slowly drains its power, without any connected load - as batteries tend to do - then internal processes in the battery will ultimately convert the energy into heat, which will quickly go into the environment. In other words, the energy is wasted.
There is not an alternator indicator light on a Honda Pilot. If the alternator goes out, the battery will not stay charged.
