When brake fluid leaks the system is compromised and the brakes might not function properly. Look over the entire brake system to see where the leak is coming from to be able to fix the problem.

What are the symptoms of brake master cylinder failure in a 1999 Lincoln Town Car?

Testing the MC is easy: Start the engine and let it idle. Press on the service brake pedal hard. Hold the pedal for at least ten minutes. If the pedal falls away the master cylinder is leaking internally between the pressure and non pressurized sides. If you have to add fluid and there are no evident leaks at the wheels the MC may be leaking into the brake servo unit. I recommend that a compentent mechanic remove the MC to determine if fluid is indeed leaking into the booster. If so both the boost unit and the MC should be replaced.

Where do you put the brake fluid at on a 1988 Lincoln Town Car?

In the brake fluid reservoir on the driver side near the firewall. The brakes master cylinder (a round shape component) is against the firewall, and then comes out from it there is a boxy module that has brake fluid. It has a screw-on cap to hold the fluid tight in there. Two small metal pipes come out of this boxy module. That module is where you put the brake fluid (DOT 3) in.
