The filter may bolt on, and look like it fits, but the filtering element inside is much fine than the one made for your EVO engine. Your engine will probably not be able to flow enough oil through the filter to keep it from backing up oil in to the lower end and making a mess, plus cost you power.

How many kms is a 2002 Harley softail engine good for before a rebuild?

That depends alot on the maintainence and the way it is ridden. Also is it an evo or twin cam? Evo are known to last 200K miles. Twin cams are not as durable and it is cheaper to buy a new engine than rebuild.

How do you change oil pump on 96 cu in harley evo motor?

The 96 series Harley Davidson engines use a twin-gerotor oil pump, instead of the external pump of the other EVO engines. This makes replacing the pump more difficult, requiring professional assistance or at least access to the printed service manual.

What years are harley Davidson fat boy parts interchangeable?

"Parts" covers a lot of territory, especially since virtually all Harley models of all years differ from the year before, if only slightly. Contrary to popular belief, the factory is constantly improving every model every year. Sometimes those changes are very minor and sometimes they're huge, like the switch from Evo Softail to Twin Cam Softail, which included an entirely new frame, transmission case and gas tank. In 1994 the factory changed primary gearing from 24/37 to 25/36, meaning clutches & compensators from before and after 1994 aren't interchangable. But generally speaking, most Evo Fat Boy parts will fit most other years of Evo Fat Boys and most Twin Cam Fat Boy parts will fit most other years of Twin Cam Fat Boys. The Evo Softail debuted in 1984 and ran through 1999.

What is a turbo twin engine?

The twin turbo engine, has two turbos. With only one turbo, there's what they call "turbo lag", which occurs when the car shifts. a turbo works to certain rpms, but when you shift, all the pressure is lost. So the car needs to starts again taking all the pressure. the twin turbo has 1 turbo that works at low rpm and the other one works for high rpm. With this, you eliminate the turbo lag,...for some they call this new system, "misfiring system" like for the Lan Evo 3. They also call it "anti-lag". P.S. :I just stated the previous answer much clearly.

Can you hide text messages on the Evo?

What is a shovel head?

Shovelhead is an unofficial slang term referring to Harley's large V-twin produced from 1966 through 1984 (Evo engine production overlapping starting in 1983). It is used to differentiate the head design after the previous "panhead" that looked like baking pans. If you sight down the handle of standard shovel, the top of the metal blade kinda looks similar to the v-twin's head as you look from the right side of the engine. It is a stretch, but a cool term to use. You might notice that the older smaller v-twin Sportsters starting in 1957 have a similar shovelhead look, but the term was not typically used and instead, "ironhead" was used. Before panhead was knucklehead and after shovelhead were blockhead and twinkie for similar reasons, but most people refer to post shovelhead by using official Harley terms: EVO (for evolution), Twin Cam for the latest version based upon cam redesign. These are all terms basically used to differentiate large V-twins by design eras. The latest V-rod v-twin is becoming known as the "metric", because it went watercooled like the Japanese bikes and also for it's use of more metric fasteners and more overseas parts.

What would happen if I used an oil filter for a Twin Cam 88 on my 96 Big Twin Evo?

Why would you???? If you want the best filtration and a little more oil capacity, use a quality oil filter that fits a 1994<up 3.8 litre Ford Mustang such as Fram CPH3600 or equivilant. Way cheaper and way better!!! It's 4.75" long so you will have to pull the stator plug to install it. The pressure relief springs are the same as H-D filters so no worries. If you don't like the colour then paint it what ever... I have been using the Fram CPH3600 with Mobile 1 (15w-50) for years now on my TOTALLY abused (enjoyed) 110 Revtech '94 FLHTC and NO problems. BONUS INFO: If you run a hi-po motor and a performance wet clutch... Try "Ford Type F" tranny fluid in your primary! No slippage! The same as B&M Trick Shift. Plus it's red so primary leaks are easy to detect. Ride Hard..........AJ
