It depends. There are a few questions you must ask yourself before you decide to do this.
1. Is your child responsible enough to do this?
2. Would your child answer/ talk to any stranger who came to the door?
3. Is your child comfortable with this?
4. Are you comfortable with this?
5. Do you know most of your neighbors close up? If so do you trust them?
6. Would anyone know your child was home alone?
If ANY of your answers to these questions no, do NOT do this.
Absolutely NOT!!! No matter how responsible, 16 years old is not an appropriate age to stay home alone for that amount of time.
