Can a 1 and a half year old kitten eat dry food and wet canned food for kittens?

if the can says for kittens, i think your fine. unless your feeding it big cat food, you should probably look in the back label, where it uselly has a table showing you how much the kitten can eat of that food, according to the weight of your kitty.

Mushed up wet food, or wet food that is throughly mixed with a little water or kitten milk is the best type of food for weaning and young kittens. It is easy for them to eat and digest. It is advisable not to try dry food as, even softened with water, kittens may still not be able to eat it. Dry food is incredibly hard and brittle, and is often full of corn, wheat, and other grains and cereals which provide nothing in the way of nutrition to a kitten or an adult cat. These ingredients are often hard to digest; cats have evolved to derive all needed nutrients from meat, not plants.
Kittens usually begin the weaning process around 4-6 weeks of age. They begin by taking an interest, or picking at their mother's solid food. At this age they will still be suckling and getting nutrients from their mother, but putting a tiny bit of wet food down every few hours will entice them to eat. You could see if they will lick food off your fingertip or off their own paws. This first stage can take several days.
As the kittens get older and bigger, you can slowly decrease the amount of water or kitten milk you use in the food, and leave slightly larger chunks for them to chew.
Be sure to feed them from a plate and not a bowl, as it is easier for the kittens to pick up the food.

Is the kitten still nursing, or is she being bottle fed?How are her litter mates doing with this? The kittens are still young, and dry food may be just too hard for them right now. Dry kibble is incredibly hard and brittle and young kittens especially may be put off. Your kitten may not even like the taste of the food (this isn't uncommon in cats). If your kitten is refusing a certain brand of food, try another. Even try some wet food to see if you kitten prefers that. I can suggest to you is that you see your vet. She's about the right age for her first shots anyway.

It is possible for cats to go up to a few hours in between giving birth to their kittens, although if it has been over four hours, I would recommend you take her to see a vet. If a kitten spends too long in the birth canal, it can drown. There is also a possibility that what you felt was not another kitten, but perhaps the birth sacs of the two kittens already born. I hope your cat and her babies are doing well!
