You have to change the tailpiece on the transmission to one from a 4x4 transmission so the transfer case will bolt to it There is probably more to it than that, depending on the transmission. Usually the output shaft of the transmission has to be changed, and that means disassembly of the entire transmission. Research the exact transmission and transfer case combination before you buy a 2 wheel drive transmission and HOPE it will fit.
Yes, transmission in park, transfer case in neutral. With the steering wheel unlocked.Yes, transmission in park, transfer case in neutral. With the steering wheel unlocked.
The transfer case will not bolt to a 2wd transmission.
The transmission is completely different in these two. The Sidekick has an integral transfer case, the Samurai is divorced (separate) transfer case. Although anything may be possible I have never seen this conversion and it will not 'Bolt' on.
No, there is no place on the back of the transmission to bolt it to.No, there is no place on the back of the transmission to bolt it to.
Almost, except the case for a 4WD transmission is designed to mount a transfer case, and the tail shaft is intended to go into said transfer case... a 2WD transmission is not. They will not be compatible.
The transfer case goes between the transmission and differentials. This transfer case keeps your vehicle in all wheel configuration.
NO. All 2-wheel drive and 4-wheel drive transmissions are DIFFERENT. There is a center shaft that runs through the transmission and the 4-wheel drive transmission shaft is longer so the transfur case will slide up on it. The center shaft in the 2-wheel drives are shorter. NO NEED FOR A TRANSFUR CASE.
The transfer case in a Ford Explorer is mounted at the rear of the transmission and allows the vehicle to have 4 wheel drive
If you mean use it in a 2 wheel drive car or truck, it's not a direct bolt in -- as in removing the transfer case, putting a tail shaft housing on and bolting it in. If this is what you mean, the answer to your question is no. You would have to change the output shaft (which requires the transmission to be disassembled) to use it in a 2 wheel drive vehicle.
No. The 4WD transmission has a different tail shaft assembly because the transfer case bolts directly to it.
NO way. Not even close.
