I am not an expert, but i would imagine they can by sucking them up. My advice would be to put less food in the tank.
Because they are looking for food and may pick up gravel as they slurp their way along the bottom of the tank.
There is betta food on the market, and if you should purchase this food the fish is not going to gulp this down right away. Bettas do not eat like we do, they go for days without eating it is best not even to try to feed a betta every day, one way to know if a betta is hungry or other fish is too watch them in there habitat, if the betta or your other fish are around the top and very active drop some food in, if they or it is just taking life easy do not feed them or it.
He sits listlessly at the bottom of the tank. His usually long, flowing fanned out fins are clumped together. He shows no interest in food and does not flare at the sight of another betta. He is generally lethargic.
It might, depends on what kind of Betta food you give it.
A betta can eat any betta food regardless of the manufacturer; they typically market it as Betta Bites.
They sell packaged betta food.
A betta eats a few pellets or a pinch of flakes 3 times a day. It is best to use only food designed for a betta. Also keep in mind that a betta's stomach is the size of his/her eye.
no they eat freeze dried blood worms, live food,or Betta food bought from a store.
No, they do not add gravel, but they do add preservatives.
Yes you can feed it to a Betta, but most of it it will not be digestable for a Betta. Bettas are insectivores and need a proper diet made from insects etc. That is why pet shops have special Betta food for sale.
This can depend on what type of food you are feeding your fish. If you are feeding betta bites, then typically the fish would eat from the surface. If you are feeding flakes, then it's possible the fish is simply waiting for the food to sink. It's not uncommon for fish to forage around the bottom for food that may have settled there.
If the betta is spitting the food out, or looks at it and then ignores it, it probably just doesn't like that kind of food. They're picky.
