I've never heard of a 388 big block, but I'll say that in general, it's usually pretty easy to install a big block in place of a small block. Requires a bigger cooling system, and different exhaust, but very do-able. Headers are available for this swap.

There is not a 350 engine known as a "big block". If the caprice and the truck are the same year it should fit perfectly.

No it will not even BOLT UP to the 20OO year engine block. Chevy redesigned the transmissions and engine blocks in late 1999. Will not interchange.
