Can a Doberman live in an apartment?

Having a Dog in an ApartmentIt can be done but you will have to take the extra effort of taking the dog for extra walks to release energy. It's an extra hassle because you can't just open the back door and play around. You have to take the dog to areas designated for dogs to "go", keep him on a leash at all times, you can't let him bark because of your neighbors, and you'll have to pay for any damages he might and probably will cause. That said it's completely possible if the apartments are cool with a large breed dog. You'll have to pay a pet deposit which is costly (mine cost me $350) and make sure your on the first floor because he'll make a lot of noise running around and downstairs neighbors won't like that. I currently maintain an active Rottweiler in my 1 bedroom apartment UPSTAIRS and have received 6 lease violations already but we're moving in 4 weeks thank heavens! Oh yeah you'll also definitely need a kennel/crate (mine was $130) for when you leave if you want your home to be intact when you get back. Like I said it's possible but be prepared to make the extra effort to keep your dog and neighbors happy. Good luck.

I own an amazing Boxer in an apartment. It is great. The key is to allow your Boxer to expend his/her energy. Boxer's are very energetic. They love to play and play and play. They are a bit difficult to train because they love to play. The key to training is be patient and have a good sense of humor. Try to train your Boxer in short bursts, about 15 minutes at a time. They will lose interest if kept in a training session too long. I would switch off between food treats and a toy as the reward during training. Many times my Boxer responded better to the toy than the treats. Boxers are very smart and you can teach them to do almost anything. The key is taking your Boxer to the dog run at least 3 to 4 times a week. A good morning walk and evening walk is also very good. These dogs have tremendous energy but they do calm down at around 3 years old. Boxers will maintain their youthful spirit however. I do recomend crate training.

For the most part, no. Boxers have short hair coats that do not retain heat well, so they can be very sensitive to cold temperatures, wet atmospheres and wind chill. Boxers also have very short muzzles, which reduces the amount of heat they can dissipate through panting. Because of this, Boxers can be very sensitive to hot temperatures and high humidity.

Also, Boxers are people-oriented as a breed and need to interact with humans on a regular basis.

As long as it's on the larger side, and there is a yard for the Boxer to run around in, I think that would be fine. Also, the Boxer would need to run around in a yard every day for at least half a hour.

Boxers can live in an apartment, it is better to have more space though. As long as you let your boxer get a lot of exercise outside of your house then it should be fine.
