A distributor will change the way the car runs not the way it drives.
Yes if your distributor isn't set correctly you could do some very serious damage. To put it simply it gives spark and its what times the engine so if its out you could be using too much petrol or too little. Giving bad engine responses, emissions and even an uncomfortable noisy slow drive depending on how far out it is. Bring it to a mechanic and get timed correctly!
If your car has the V6 the distributor is in the space between the heads ad the bell housing end of the engine. If your car has the 4 cylinder engine the distributor is below the intake manifold on the bell housing end of the motor. If it is a distributor-less engine the ignition control module is where the distributor would have been. Either way you can follow the spark plug wires to it.
The same way you time any other car that uses a distributor. You need a timing light.
Hello, Yesterday i drove nicely to work but later in the day when i start my car there is no spark ?? i tested it in all possible ways but there way no spark jezzanyways, i did change to new spark plugs, plus i have new wires (4 months old) and same with distributor cap...and there no engine light tht shows up. now i m not sure if my car wont crank because of bad coil? ignition starter or distributor??if so, can u show me any diagram to change it. my car is 1993 Honda civic coupe DX 1.5Lit. Please help any feedback is appreciated. cheers____________
This may not be the perfect way of timing your car, but it will work. Loosen your distributor hold down nut, then start your car. Turn the distributor to the left or right until the car sounds the best. Turn it slowly, you will notice a difference in how the engine sounds
It is not the ccxr ludacriss drives, he drives a "regular" ccx while roman pierce drives a ccxr, it's a mistake in the movie, that they are said to be the same model, the ccxr is way more rare than the ccx
The easy way is to replace the entire distributor with a remanufactured unit. The hard way is to mark position of distributor rotor, remove the distributor from engine, reome cap & rotor, remove drive gear from the bottom of distributor , slide shaft up & out, remove pick up.reverse steps & reset ignition timing. IMPORTANT TO MARK LOCATION OF ROTOR BEFORE REMOVAL
You have to get under the car and change it that way.
i think its better way to change it !
This figure will vary, depending on several different factors of each car, the way the driver drives, and where the suspension of the car is currently placed.
It is an integral part of the distributor. Changing the part is as expensive as buying another distributor. Just change the distributor, that way the whole piece gets some form of warranty where as the CPS(or CAS "cranks angle sensor") is usually considered a solo electrical part and has no warranty, what so ever.
The best way to change your air filter on a car is to take it to an auto mechanic and you can also take the car to an reputible car dealership and have it changed as well.
