I would say in most cases no... however, many benefits are dependent, in the wording of the benefit, upon your direct manager. You have to get approval for tuition reimbursement at most jobs, for instance, and you have to get approval for when you can take vacation days. Things like that. My suggestion is to go to Human Resources and tell them the problem. If your manager denies vacation for one week, but allows it another... there probably isn't anything you can do. But if the manager *never* allows it, then they will intervene. If your manager is being unreasonable about some other benefit, and you have a case to make (read the details of the benefit to see if you do), then talk to Human Resources and see what can be done. Maybe nothing, depending on how it is written, and how responsive your Human Resources department is... but maybe something.
