If this happens only when engine is cold it is a normal condition If this hasppens when engine is at normal operating temperature it may be a sign of head gasket leakage Check to see if oil is getting into coolant or coolant getting mixed with engine oil
It sounds like your VSS(Vehicle Speed Sensor) has gone bad, which will turn on your check engine light.
The check engine light does not generally have anything to do with the check oil light. The oil light just indicated it is time to change the oil, while the engine light indicates a problem.

make sure everything works as it should. ignition timing correct. pressure test engine to check for worn rings / piston barrel. for two strokes, check crank seals for leakage.
check your pvc. If that is not working your engine will blow the oil out somewhere.
