Can a pregnant 15-year-old marry her 17-year-old boyfriend without parental consent?
In Georgia it is legal for a 15-17 year old to get married without parents consent if the girl is pregnant and she has a letter from her doctor.
- There are a few US states where a pregnant minor may marry without parental consent. However, if the young man is also a minor he must have the consent of his parents or legal guardian.
The pregnant female must present a notarized letter from a physician licensed to practice in the state where the marriage is to take place confirming the pregnancy.
A minor cannot leave their home state and be married in a different state without the parents or legal guardian being present, regardless of the circumstances.
