YES IT CAN SO GET IT FIXED
When service engine light is on on a 2003 Chevy Trailblazer, the problem could be a faulty thermostat, a circuit range performance problem, or any other problem.
On the 4 cylinder Saturn, follow the top radiator hose back to the engine. Note that there is a housing that is bolted to the engine to which the radiator hose is connected. Remove the radiator hose first, then remove the housing. On the 4 cylinder Saturn's, the thermostat is a part of that housing.
i have the same problem. I took thermostat housing off the block, but cant get out thermostat. Any idea ?
Follow the upper radiator hose from the radiator to the engine and at the engine you will find a housing with the thermostat inside. When replacing it make sure the spring goes toward the engine.
Follow the top radiator hose to the engine, what that mounts to is the thermostat housing, remove this and there is your thermostat. * ** *** **** ***** Actually, on my 1997 SL2, the thermostat is on the bottom radiator hose. I would check the "Saturn Thermostat Pictures" link below, which also has installation and removal instructions.

have vehicle scanned to determine the problem
Thermostat bad or missing or engine not running.
The usual issue with a 2005 Saturn Vue engine light is a problem with the EGR valve. It is best to have a mechanic check out the problem.

Hi, I have that same problem right now, but I took it in for a diagnostic and they told me i needed a new EGR valve, maybe that could be your problem too!
Thermostat is located on the passenger side of the engine. If you look where the two hoses are going from the radiator and the resiviour this part comes out and the thermostat is located underneath.
