Can a small dog live a normal life with a displaced hip?

yes, but how long depends on the dogs current age and weight.

Have you taken your dog in to your Veterinarian to determine this condition? Normally if you can get your dog into the Vet within about 12-24 hours he can put the hip back into place and it will stay but any longer than that and your chances of the hip remaining in the socket are greatly reduced.

This can be a very painful situation for the dog and I would highly recommend if you have not taken your dog into your Vet, to do that immediately.

In some circumstances yes, talk to your veterinarian about it. There are some surgeries available for small dogs with displaced hips or if you are more of a minimalist your vet maybe able to provide you with a refilable antiinflammatory drug to relieve the pain and inflammation. This is normall very painful without veterinary intervention.
