No, you cannot. Having a joint PayPal account is a violation of Paypal's TOS. I had an account for about a year with both mine and my wife's name on it. At some point, Paypal noticed and locked my account. Everything was frozen. I couldn't send money, withdraw, etc. I needed to jump through a bunch of hoops, faxing documents including my SS card, a utility bill, etc. to prove my identity and they told me the problem was the joint status on the account. After everything, it took about a week for everything to be resolved and they removed my wife's name from the account.
No. Both have to sign the check.A bit more:Unless the laws on this have changed since I worked in banking, an exception to this is if the husband and wife have a joint bank account, then only one of them can endorse (sign) the check if they deposit it directly into their joint account.
Of course. That's the purpose of a "joint" account.
No because they are too dense to figure it out I have the same issue so I have to keep an old bank account open as I want to buy my own things without the wife having to grill me on "Why do you need that" Paypal I know your are covering your butts because of either partner saying they didnt want that. block payment etc. They are losing money as people will say Ill go elsewhere. Silly silly people, if the banks can figure it out why cant you??
There are pros and cons to spouses sharing a joint account. In today's volatile economic climate, it is more adviasable to have separate accounts. If you wish to have a joint account, use it as a maintenance account for paying joint bills: mortgage, utilities, groceries, etc.
From personal experience with a big UK bank, I csan say that our joint account wasn't frozen when my wife died. I don't know about the crest of the EU.
Joint accounts. A joint account has both peoples' names on it so either of them can withdraw from it. Also there's no saying they couldn't have separate accounts and still be able to deposit and withdraw from the same bank. Just not from the same account.
then it would be okay
Not if the debt is discharged in the bankruptcy.
A Joint Savings Account is when two people have joint access to the savings account. If a Wife and Husband, Boyfriend and girlfriend, parents and child open a Joint Account then "either" one of them can access ALL the money in the account. If one of them is involved in an illegal activity the Police can freeze the WHOLE account and "can" take ALL the money. It would be up to you to prove the money didn't come from the illegal activity. (Actually they would freeze separate accounts in the same household also) Good and bad parts are you both can access the money as needed, but the other person can "empty" the account with out your say so.

You have the ability to represents the living person. That would include the ability to empty a checking account.
