I think what you're thinking of is when you see pictures of breast cancer cells and very UV microscope. This is called immunofluorescence where an antibody towards a Breast cancer cell antigen is bound to fluorescent marker, which under UV light glows. This is useful in both detecting cancer cells and understanding the processes involved in cancers
