YES! As someone who's lived her whole life in the northern part of BC, Canada, I can tell you for sure that my car's oil will freeze if I do not keep it warm by plugging my car into an electrical outlet at night. When it gets as cold as it gets here, cars require more maintainance for winter than in other places; all-seasons tires don't cut it for winters up here, either; they weren't made to handle the kind of cold I face. A special fluid to help keep my oil from freezing helps, and strong antifreeze.
But in summary, yes. Oil will freeze if it gets cold enough.
Engine oil is not going to freeze in your engine. It will get very thick but will not freeze.
if the engine is smoking and overheating the head gasket is blown or you popped a freeze plug
If you run too low on oil in any car, the engine will freeze up and be ruined. The whole engine would have to be rebuilt or replaced which would cost over $3000.00. Better get a quart or two of oil. Much cheaper than a new engine and a car that will probably never be the same again.
what is a good engine oil to use in my car
Not sure if it is the same as the 2000 model, but if it is the engine freeze plugs are located under neath the engine. You can find them by getting under your car, and looking directly above the oil pan. They should be located on the engine block around this area.
To prevent the engine from overheating.
anti freeze will mix with and dilute the oil in engine it will usually cause lots of smoke and also will over fill oil capacity in engine, which sometimes will cause oil to pressurise and blow out dipstick hole best to dump oil and filter ,install new filter and oil ==Answer2== it is strongly recommended that you change the oil and filter as soon as possible to prevent damage to your car.
You freeze up the engine
There is'nt supposed to be anti-freeze in your engine. probably what happened is the ant-freeze made your engine stop. So you have to clean your engine or get a new one.
Well, basically the engine will have no lubrication and the pistons and rods will freeze in place, called seizing, and the entire engine will be a paperweight for the rest of eternity. Hope that answers your question!
Were are the freeze plugs
An oil leak is always going to be out of the engine as the engine contains oil and the car does not. I think you are saying you are loosing oil with no apparent leak. If that is the case the engine is burning oil and that is why you see no leaks.
