Eating can be a way to cope with stress and depression. In that respect a child may use food as comfort and gain weight during and/or after her parent's divorce. The same effect can result from living with parents who fight constantly and do not get divorced.

How many children that come from divorce families become divorce thenselves?

About 72% of the world's children become divorced after their parents are. This happens because the children watch their parents actions and learn from them. For example, if a parent says to their child to watch out for a man/women if they start acting nervous on a date with you, the child starts to watch out. Then the child will exaggerate and divorce someone or break up with them.

Why do young people become homeless?

People become homeless because they don't make enough money to afford housing. If they have children, the children will also become homeless because their parents can't afford a place to live.

Why do parents not get divorced?

That depends on many things. They may stay together for their children, so that the kids don't have to make a lot of choices such as: who's house do we stay at, how long do we stay at each house, who gets custody, who gets to claim them on their income taxes, etc etc. People might want to avoid all the hassle of getting a divorce. There can also be an emotional side to it, for example some parents might think it sets the worst possible example of marriage to their children if they get divorced. Some believe that the children of divorced parents become more likely to get a divorce themselves. Finally, the parents might hold off on a divorce in hopes that they can resolve their differences and become less incompatible.

What are the affects on children from a divorce?

The effects of divorce on most children is horrendous. Often children can blame themselves for their parents getting a divorce even though they have no idea what is really going on; they can become withdrawn; get poor grades in school; 'act out' such as getting into trouble; feelings of great loss and depression; inability to eat; staying in their room for long periods of time; becoming moody and distant from the rest of the family and possibly their friends. To the children it's 'mom and dad' and no one can take the place of that no matter what most reasons are for divorce. However, there are some children who are old enough where perhaps one of the parents may be cruel; causing constant arguing; on drugs (also alcohol related) where the children are happy to see that parent go.

Should children be allowed to divorce their parents?

I just wanted to add that a marriage is a legal contract entered into by two parties. A divorce is a cancelling of that contract. With children, there is no legal contract between them and their parents. Children are under the control and responsibility of their parents until they become adults and until such times, they are not even allowed to enter into legally binding contracts. So since you are not in a contract, there is no way to break it. The only way is to prove to the courts that you are abused. If this is the case, tell someone - a teacher would be a good place to start. If parents are not suitable to bring their children up there are other ways for the children to be taken away and taken into court custody and eventually put into foster care. What you are thinking about is "emancipation" and in some cases yes, a child can emancipate from their parents, but it's up to a court of law. No. There are other remedies.

Parents rarely hate their own children. Their love is unconditional. Even if they hate, they would have hatred because of some genuine reason.
