it's not ideal, but when you put the chlorine pool water in the sewer system it just flows through the pipes to the water cleaning facility. In the process of cleaning the water that comes out through the sewers, they actually use chlorine to kill of some of the germs, bacteria and other nasty bugs that travel in the sewers. So it's really not as big of a problem as you might think. Once the Chlorine is in the pipes, and transfered to the sewer treatment plant. One of the later stages of the water treatment is to remove impurities like chlorine. Also keep in mind that chlorine is put into the pool as a granule or solid, but the granule is just a system for transporting the chlorine. Once it is the pool, chlorine breaks down into its natural state which is a gas, and over time it naturally separates itself from water by rising above it.
