That is not your best idea, most old interior furniture has old varnish or stain on it. The older furniture finishes were oil or alcohol based. Drywall primer these days is a latex (water) base and will not adhere.
I wouldn't. Drywall primer will turn out runny on top of the wood and won't adhere or cure to the wood. I recommend using Sherwin Williams Multi-Purpose Primer, it's tintable, and your top coats will adhere and cure much better, it's also a stain and water blocker. Depending on the size of your project, you might be able to get away with a quart. Good luck!
