My cat had a hellish abscess tooth and I am so broke I could not take him to the vet which just about killed me.
At first I used warm salt water compresses and eventually the infection pushed the infected teeth out and his abscess began to drain then it turned bad. He lost a tremendous about of weight, had no appetite and sat in a position with both back legs together that it appeared the infection had spread possibly to his vital organs. As one abscess pocket would drain, another underneath it would swell up.
Soon he appeared to be on death's door. I started administering one goldenseal capsule every 12 hours.
He could not open his mouth very far and puss and blood continued to drain. Within a few days, he could open his mouth more. I also administered Nutrical for calories and nutrients while force feeding wet cat food to him.
After a week, he has improved tremendously and gained back some of the weight. He looks like he feels like sh*t and the puss and blood continue to drain. His face is almost back to its normal size with some congestion in his sinuses, sneezing and such. His strength, his vm and vigor have returned and I know he is on the road to recovery.
Grapefruit Seed Extract is also known for helping with infections. I have a bottle of it here though have not administered it to him yet.
NEVER give up. If you can't afford a vet, that isn't your fault. Goldenseal capsules are cheap and available at most drugstores such as CVS and RiteAid.
