Can hunting dog also be a good house pet?

Yes, they can. Police dogs are good house pets. A lot of the officers who has these dogs bring them home with them at night. You just have to train it basic obedience so they are easy to handle. Most hunting dogs have soft mouths. This is a plus when dealing with children because tey will be less likely to hurt them.

It depends entirely on the type of dog. Working breeds, bred for high activity, such as Border Collies, Dalmations, Shepherds, and some terriers, do not do very well if they do not have plenty of space to run. To keep this type of dog in the house you would have to be certain that you took it out every day for a good long run and play session. Other dogs, like an American Bulldog, for example, don't need/like as much exercise and are quite happy in the home. Very small dogs need less room to run, but don't assume they need less exercise. A large dog like a Mastiff probably needs less exercise than some tiny, high energy dogs -- therefore, you may find a smaller dog more disruptive to the home because they are always running around, whereas some larger dogs are quite quiet in the house.
