Not really. They have different properties and cook differently. You can sometimes use olive oil to saute something in place of butter, but if the recipe calls for butter, use butter. Sometimes you can substitute vegetable oil or canola oil, but not olive oil.
That's not pizza crust. Pizza crust: Flour, yeast, warm water, salt, olive oil. Knead. Rise. Shape. Bake. Butter could replace olive oil (even though olive oil is better for you) but what purpose would the honey serve?
No. Olive oil has a distinct flavor. If you need to substitute butter you should use margerine or shortening
You must mean that you don't want to use butter... you may substitute butter for olive oil, vegetable oil or canola oil.
No, Grandee Olive Butter is no longer made.
No, and for two reasons. Oil, any kind, will make your cookies lose their shape and they will spread all over the cookie sheet, and secondly, olive oil while it taste good would not taste good in cookies.
In substituting olive oil for vegetable oil you would use the same amounts, but bear in mind olive oil can have a stronger taste than vegetable oil. It may be wise to replace some of the oil with butter or applesauce to avoid a strong olive taste.
Grilled Spiced Chicken Wings Ingredients 8 chicken wings (about 1 1/2 pounds), halved through the joint 1 teaspoon olive oil 2 teaspoons seafood seasoning (such as Old Bay) 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted ranch dressing, for dipping
You can substitute olive oil for margarine by using exactly the same quantity. They are equivalent in any recipe.
It is butter and olive oil.
Butter is made from milk. I can not be made from olive oil. Olive oil comes from olives and butter comes from a milk of some short (usually from cow's milk). If you are thinking of the margarine made with olive oil this is likely the spreadable kind that you buy in tub. This is not the same thing either. I think that it is vegetable oils whipped with water and salt and thickeners. Shortening is hydrogenated vegetable oil. You will have more luck substituting butter or lard for your shortening.
olive oil is healthier than butter because it has less fat
Yes you can. In fact several Italian cakes call for olive oil. If you substitue olive oil for vegetable oil in a recipe that doesn't call for it, you will probably notice a change in flavor and you may or may not like it.
