Usually when people talk about a no strings attached relationship they are referring to having sex, with no strings attached, which is to say, other than having sex, you are not going to expect or demand anything from that person. Friendship is composed of many elements, which some people might describe as strings. Friends help each other. However, you could isolate some aspect of friendship from the other aspects if you wanted to. For example, you could have a Pizza eating friend. The only thing that the two of you do together would be to share pizza. This could be done with no strings attached. Just because you share pizza together, does not require you to also share spaghetti.
