How to change front brakes on a 2006 dodge Caravan?

Remove wheelSet parking brakeblock rear wheelsloosen wheel nutsjack and support (not with cinder blocks!)remove wheel nuts and wheelsplace a rag under the master cylinder, in case brake fluid runs overRecommend you do one brake at a time, from this point, so that you can look at the other one, to see how it's assembled. Remove the caliper and bracketIf there is no star washer on one of the wheel studs, re-install 2 lug nuts to hold rotor in place.Have a piece of stiff wire ready, to hang the caliper from the chassis, so that it doesn't dangle by the brake line.Next remove the spring clip. Pry it off with a flat blade screw driver (save it)Loosen but don't remove the two caliper mounting studs with a 7mm Allen wrench (or 7mm hex drive)Remove the two caliper bracket bolts (21mm socket), rock the assembly off the rotor and hang it with your piece of wire.Move the outer pad toward the inner and remove it.Pry the inner pad (spring clip) out of the caliper piston and remove it.Remove the caliper mounting studs completely.Fully retract piston into caliper body using a "c" ClampWire brush the caliper bracket, paying particular attention to the machined slots that the tabs of the brake pads slide in.Lightly! lubricate the machined slots with a graphite lubricant.Clean the caliper mounting studsGrease the inside of the caliper mounting stud bushings with white lithium grease. Just in the little groves. Wipe off any excessClean & lube Remove the star washer (if it still exists, otherwise remove the wheel nuts installed earlier, from the wheel stud and slide the rotor off.Degrease your new rotor, before installing it.Replace the star washer, if it still exists, otherwise put a wheel nut on (finger tight).Rotor replacement (These rotors start out thin and often need replacing at the same time as the pads. Sometimes you can have them turned.)Assembly Assemble the caliper bracket, to the caliper.Install new pads inner and outerRe-Install the caliper bracket to the steering knuckle.Tighten both caliper bracket bolts AND both caliper studs securely.PUMP BRAKE PEDAL TO SET PADS AGAINST CALIPER PRIOR TO MOVING VEHICLERe-install the clip. It can be a pain. Put the top sides (wings) on first and then pull the center into place. Ensure it is tight. But using a screw driver and pliers you'll get it. Be careful it doesn't go flying and hit someone or get lost.Do the second wheel (Always do both wheels, in the same job. Imbalanced brakes are dangerous.).AssemblyRe- install wheels. As above pump the brakes before you drive the van.A final hint, it's easier to work on one wheel at a time. Before you jack up the Van, turn the wheel to the right or left depending on the side you are working on. It's a whole lot easier to get to the bolts....goood luck!

How do you replace brake pads on a 1999 Mazda Protege?

Front Disc: 1) Jack up car and take off the wheel. 2) Remove the 2 slider bolts that mount the caliper to the bracket. 3) Carefully slide that caliper back, the brake pads should come with it. Ensure any shims that are insatlled are replaced. 4) Have someone hold the caliper or hang it on the strut using a wire (coat hanger), this is to ensure it is not dropped and the brake line is not damaged. 5) Back up the caliper cylinder(slave cylinder) using a 4 or 6" c-clamp. Just gently push it into the caliper. A good way to do this is to use the old brake pad for the clamp to push on. 6). Once the cylinder is pushed into the caliper there is now enough room to install the new pads (and shims if needed) and slide the caliper back on. 7) reinstall the caliper mounting bolts and torque to 29-36 ft-lbs. 8) reperform on the other side. Rear drums: Can be much more difficult and i would recommend buying a manual. You will also need a rebuild kit that has springs and grease. Also the front brake discs are easily replaceable if you remove the caliper mounting bracket and there are usually inexpensive ~$20-30 each. Or a parts store will usually refinish (turn) them for $5-10. If the brakes never were shaking at a minimum take 120 grit sandpaper and make circular marks on the discs to remove any brake glaze. You should also buy a can of brake cleaner to spray the pads and discs when you are all done.

How long does it take to replace the water pump on a 2001 Pontiac sunfire?

1st time I did it it took me awhile. Probable about 5 hours. Most my time was spent accessing the water pump and cleaning off the old gasket. I assume someone with more experience and proper tooling could do it in a couple of hours. I had to remove the alternator and that mounting bracket that it sat on. Removed the mounting bracket because I had limited access to the gasket that was left on the engine from the water pump. I also didn't have the proper Serpitine Belt tensioner tool...so I had to run out and purchase one of those.

How to Compress brake caliper on Volkswagen Jetta?

you need a special caliper tool that turns the piston as it pushes it in, or if you are on a tight budget grab a wrench and a regular caliper compressor and turn the caliper clockwise as you tighten the tool (or ask someone for help, easier with 2 people) hope this helps.

When mounting your horse in an active arena with the other riders you should?

For Howrse riding level 5 its ask someone to hold your horse while you mount and use a mounting block

What should you do when mounting a horse in an active ring with other riders around?

Try mounting outside of the arena, or mounting in a quiet area inside the arena where you are most likely not going to be in someone's way. It would be best if you had a friend to hold your horse. Ask that friend if he/she can give you a step up, or grab a mounting block and mount from there.

Can someone give a detailed description on how to remove old front brakes and put on new front brakes on a '91 Chevrolet lumina?

remove master cylinder cap, raise vehicle and take off tire, remove caliper mounting bolts, detach the caliper and be very carefull of brake hose.hang up caliper with something to prevent breaking hose. use a screwdriver to pull up the retaining spring on the outside pad while sliding it out of the caliper. unclip the inner pad from the piston, before putting on new pads, compress piston back in bore with a big c-clamp! place old pad on piston to compress. installation is in reverse order! when done do not forget to put master cap back on.

I can i get my horse to allow me to mount using a mounting block?
