The stat is located at the lower end of the top radiator hose within the water outlet. If coolant is not low replace the stat. I hope this helps you. Mark
Befor you go taking the thermostate and all the coolent out of your engine
check and see if one of the sending units is not working one is for the temp to open thermostate the other is for the gauge. cheaper to replace sending unit
The coolant temp sensor is located next the the thermostat housing.

The thermostat is located below the alternator on the drivers side. The coolant sensor is right above the thermostat.
The thermostat is located by the side of the cylinder block near the coolant inlet. Remove the coolant inlet housing after disconnecting cables and loosening the holding bolts. You will be able to remove the thermostat to replace it.,

The thermostat is located on the side of the cylinder head, just above where the block mates with the head. There is a coolant inlet fitting (the thermostat cover) which should have a hose connected to it. If you can find that coolant inlet cover, the thermostat is located inside/under that cover. There should be two bolts holding that cover on.
The coolant temperature sensor, on a 2005 Chevrolet trailblazer 4.2 liter engine, is located just above the thermostat housing. The thermostat housing is located in the front of the engine.

The 1995 Chevy Silverado coolant sensor is located on the front of the engine. The coolant sensor will be a few inches above the thermostat housing.
