No it wont. The point of System Restore is to restore your system to a workable state without you having to reinstall the operating system and lose your data files in the process.

How do you remove Downloader.Swizzor.2.BG from System Volume Information?

You can remove any virus from System Volume Information, by shutting down System Restore, restarting your computer and then start System Restore Again. When you shutdown System Restore, all Restore Points are deleted (including the virus(ses)). When you restart System Restore, it automaticly makes a new (and clean) Restore-point. Good Luck! Jawwi :-) I have had this virus before, and i downloaded grisoft.com free virus remover software. It locaed it and automatically removed it. andy :'P

If i restore my computer to a certain date does that delete the virus?

One of the best features of Windows ME or XP is the System Restore option, however if a virus infects a computer with this operating system the virus may be accidentally backed up because of this feature. In order to completely remove a virus on these operating systems, you should disable System Restore before cleaning the system, then reenable it after the system is clean.

When you perform a system restore can it bring back a previous virus?

Yes, when you perform a system restore it can bring back a previous virus, if that virus was saved in the system restore point.

How do you remove Trojan horse downloader keenval b when AVG does not help?

To get rid of that Trojan file turn off System Restore and restart your computer then run another virus scan and it should come up clean. AV programs can't remove virus/virus infected files from System Restore. Don't forget to turn on System Restore again after you do the above. To disable Windows XP System Restore right click on My Computer, click on the System Restore tab and select Turn Off System Restore. Don't forget to turn it back on after doing the above.

How do you get rid of Dropper small 5 J without reformatting?

Trojan horse dropper.small.5.j Use your normal Anti Virus Prog and remove the virus from all infected files. If it remains after rebooting and you get a Popup stating you still have a virus. If it is in C:\System Volume Information\-restore In that case disable System Restore. Reboot and re-enable System Restore This is done by right clicking on the My Computer Icon in the startup Menu and picking properties then pick the System Restore tab, check the turn off system restore click Apply. Shut down and then reboot. The virus is hiding in the system restore. Once it is shut off and rebooted the virus should be gone. System Restore option in Windows Me/XP Users of Windows Me and Windows XP should temporarily turn off System Restore. Windows Me/XP uses this feature, which is enabled by default, to restore the files on your computer in case they become damaged. If a virus, worm, or Trojan infects a computer, System Restore may back up the virus, worm, or Trojan on the computer. Windows prevents outside programs, including antivirus programs, from modifying System Restore. Therefore, antivirus programs or tools cannot remove threats in the System Restore folder. As a result, System Restore has the potential of restoring an infected file onto your computer, even after you have cleaned the infected files from all the other locations. Also, a virus scan may detect a threat in the System Restore folder even though you have removed the threat. Hope this information helps anyone looking for this fix.

How do remove virus which is in the system restore?

You can turn off system restore. That will delete ALL of your restore points, then turn it back on to start making new ones...but keep in mind that if you do this, you won't be able to restore to earlier than the newest restore point (today in that case).
