if you remove the top radiator hose where it connects to engine, u will see the thermostat
if it is a 4wd you need to remove the engine from the vehicle
It is RWD. There is also a 4WD version equipped with a 4.0 L V6.
On your 1992 FORD TRUCK AEROSTAR 4WD, the NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH is: UNDER VEHICLE, CENTER, BELOW SEATING AREA, MOUNTED ON DRIVER SIDE OF TRANSMISSION info obtained from www.autozone.com
The estimated cost to replace a clutch and radiator, in a 1989 Nissan pickup truck is $1100. A private mechanic may be able to do the job for less.
When the Aerostar is equipped with this switch, it is located at the P.S. pump. A branch off of the engine harness at the intake manifold usually comes down to plug into the switch, and the connector is identical to the one on the coolant temp sensor on the manifold. Sometimes, however, the switch is absent.
As far as I know nothing will happen . To shift into 4WD LOW you have to be at a complete stop , foot on the brake pedal , transmission shifted into neutral ( or clutch pedal depressed ) and then select 4WD LOW
The clutch replacement labor time is 6.7 hours. Expect another hour if the flywheel needs to be turned or replaced. It is quite an extensive job because the transmission has to be removed.
Trouble code P0744 means:Torque converter clutch circuit intermittent
There should be a plug on the side of the transfer case about half way up the side. Take the plug out. If oil comes out... it's full!
The most expensive part of a clutch job in your Toyota will be (as it always is) the labor; 5 to 6 hundred dollars. The clutch assembly is about 450.00$. There may be incidentals added to this, so bank on about 1,000.00$. I have a 1991 4runner with 312 thousand kiometres on the original clutch. Try to find that on any other model, North American or other.
