Native American history and prehistory is packed with agreements between different native groups, all of which would eventually be broken by one side or the other. These were not written, so the term "treaties" is perhaps not appropriate, although some of the Iroquoian and Algonquian people made wampum belts to record these agreements.
Most native American cultures were centred on warrior societies where the men were expected to make war on anyone considered to be an enemy, which generally meant everyone else. Warrior societies without warfare leads to all kinds of trouble, so agreements for periods of peace were expected to fail, sooner or later.
